The word Introit signifies beginning or entrance. It consists of a Psalm-verse preceded by its Antiphon and followed by the Gloria Patri. The Antiphon announces, in a brief pas sage of Scripture, the chief thought of the day. The Introit should be sung by the choir or one of its members, or it may be sung or said in a responsive manner. The Congregation may join in the singing of the Gloria Patri.
These introits and their occasions are largely the same as those found in the Lutheran Common Service Book.
